Club Melmar was completed in 2021 and includes:

*Note: Palapas originated in the Philippines with the word palapa meaning palm leaf  in Tagalog and are open structures with roofs made of palm fronds.  

Spanish colonizers brought this structure to Nuevo España, or Mexico, and are now common in tropical vacation destinations in Mexico, the South Pacific and the Caribbean

Club Melmar:  Melmar Beach & Palapa*

Melmar Beach is located on Terrace II and consists of ~1000sf of beach sand, as well as a weatherproof Trex deck covered by a Filipino Palapa* (aka  South Pacific Tiki Hut).  The Melmar Beach Palapa includes a hand-peeled 6” diameter pine lodge pole set 24 inches deep in a cement foundation in the center of the deck and topped with a resort grade thatched hand-tied palm rain cape.  The Palapa has an integrated table and four 120V GFCI outlets provide power for lighting, appliances, etc.  â€‹â€‹â€‹Four TikiKev bar stools, a Tiki Teeth sculptural side table, faux palm trees, bamboo tiki torches, and a hammock add to the resort vibe

Club Melmar:  Swim Spa & Hot Tub

  • In addition to the Home Gym, Club Melmar also has a dual zone hydrotherapy Master Spa swim spa and hot tub with 31 jets that can be utilized for low impact aquatic exercise walking, jogging, or swimming in place against the adjustable jet current, or resistance training using the H2Xercise System that includes a rowing kit, resistance bands, H2Xercise Bells, and H2Xercise Fins

  • With two independent bodies of water, each can be set to different temperatures enabling aquatic exercise on the swim spa side with water set to a personal comfort zone in the 80s, without having to sacrifice maintaining the hot tub at a higher temperature up to 104°

  • The Xtreme Therapy Cove delivers a complete therapeutic massage for your lower back, hips, thighs, and calves, the StressRelief neck and shoulder massaging seat, focuses on providing a tension-relieving massage across the neck and shoulders, while the Master Blaster® Foot Therapy System* uses a cluster of jets to rejuvenate your body through an encompassing foot massage

  • The integrated sun lounge on the swim spa end can be used as a sundeck, or most commonly used at Club Melmar as a "swim-up bar" with bar height access from both the water as well as the beach for cocktails and snacks.  Tiki stools are positioned for seating at the "bar" from the beach side

  • A premium Trex Transcend Composite​ deck with glass paneled weather resistant aluminum railings that maximize visibility to the rest of Club Melmar facilitates pre and/or post spa lounging

  • Weatherproof siding fitted to the deck ends and waterproof sheeting between the Trex boards and foundation creates a large weather protected storage area underneath the deck

  • Ambiance is provided by integrated cascading water features, waterline LED lighting, as well as smart color changing LED lighting integrated in the deck railings

Club Melmar:  Home Gym & Loft

A spacious home gym currently occupies a loft that overlooks the 1st floor with a view out the large glass window wall.  The gym features interlocking rubber impact flooring, a multi station weight machine, two treadmills, two stair steppers, an exercise bike, a "body opponent bag", a power rack / squat stand, a yoga area, and a smart TV on an adjustable wall mount

Club Melmar - Fire Pit / "Drive-in" Movie screen

  • A propane fire pit is set atop durable, low maintenance, lifetime warranty Arterra® Premium Porcelain Pavers with a decorative border of Techo Bloc Squadra Pavers.  The checkerboard design matches the Dining Patio, as well as "The Pergola" on Terrace IV

  • In addition to socializing around the fire pit, the patio is the primary viewing area for the massive 300 inch “Drive-In Movie" screen (size equivalent to thirty-four 55" TVs!) although the movie screen can be viewed from anywhere on the entire Rear Grounds for almost unlimited viewer capacity...

  • Two sets of outdoor GFCI outlets provide power to the area including the “Drive-In Movie" audio and video equipment 

  • Lighting and security are provided by a motion-activated Ring Floodlight and a Ring Video Doorbell with 1080p HD video and color night vision which sends announcements to mobile phones and other smart devices whenever motion is detected, and lets you see, hear and speak to people on camera

  • Additional lighting and ambiance are provided by tiki torches, outdoor table lamps, a hanging ceiling light and smart color changing LED light strips integrated under the bluestone caps topping the retaining walls

  • The bluestone cap topping the Terrace I south and east retaining walls provide a significant amount of additional seating as necessary, and a bluestone paver step facilitates access to the adjacent Swim Spa deck​

Club Melmar - Dining Patio / Dance Floor

  • The large Dining Patio located on Terrace I includes multiple surfaces including:

    • Durable, low maintenance, lifetime warranty Arterra® Premium Porcelain Pavers with a decorative border of Techo Bloc Squadra Pavers are used for the main patio area with a checkerboard design that matches the Fire Pit Patio, as well as "The Pergola" on Terrace IV

    • A bluestone landing facilitates transition from the Kitchen

    • A fanned staircase constructed of custom curved bluestone and bluestone/flagstone walk adjacent to the patio provides access from Melmar Beach

    • Mahogany Decking is used on the Greek Ionic columned semicircular Rear Portico which provides access from the Rear Foyer

    • Stamped Concrete is used for the walk along the north side of Terrace I, as well as for the Cooking Patio which can be directly accessed from the Kitchen, the Dining Room, and the Rear Foyer

  • Lighting and security are provided by a motion-activated Ring Floodlight and a Ring Video Doorbell with 1080p HD video and color night vision which sends announcements to mobile phones and other smart devices whenever motion is detected, and lets you see, hear and speak to people on camera

  • Additional lighting and ambiance are provided by smart color changing LED lighting including an outdoor wall light and light strips integrated under the bluestone cap topping the retaining wall which also provides additional seating as necessary. 

  • A Cooking Patio is located adjacent to the Dining Patio with the 3 windows in the Butler Kitchen enabling items to be passed in and out of the house without using doors

  • Minor rearrangement of furniture enables the large patio to be used as a Dance floor, and the Rear Portico can be used as a stage for a DJ or live band during parties

Club Melmar:  The "Pergola" / Stage

The Rear Grounds houses "The Pergola", a historically significant ~1400 sf ancient roman marble and limestone patio with solid marble footers, railings, balusters, pillars, and 2 in thick marble floor tile​ which was originally imported by Joseph Wharton to his Philadelphia mansion, "Ontalauna" from Rome where is it said to have been used by Roman Senators!  The Pergola was relocated to his daughter Joanna Wharton Biddle's "Melmar" mansion after his death​​

Club Melmar - Bluestone Walk and Staircase

Club Melmar:  Covered Mahogany Porticos & Columns

There are covered mahogany porticos on all four sides of Melmar totaling ~1400 sf, each with four columns supporting their respective portico roof, including four massive historically significant columns supporting the Front Portico.  An additional four columns line the Great Room Deck steps for a total of 20 fluted Greek Ionic columns at Melmar

Club Melmar:  Great Room Deck

  • A fully opening six door NanaWall system provides an 18 ft unobstructed opening from the Great Room to a 50-yr warranty Trex Transcend deck with glass paneled weather resistant aluminum railings that maximize visibility to the rest of Club Melmar

  • ​A custom premium Trex Transcend Composite​ staircase with mica schist facing are flanked by four Greek Ionic columns topped with pier lanterns fitted with smart color changing LED bulbs

  • Weatherproof LP SmartSide siding fitted to the deck perimeter as skirting with waterproof sheeting between the Trex boards and foundation creates a large weather protected storage area underneath the deck which can be accessed by 2 sliding barn doors, one on each side of the deck

  • Lighting and security are provided by 2 sets of floodlights, one being a Ring Floodlight Cam with motion-activated LED floodlights, a built-in security siren 1080p HD video with color night vision that illuminates and sends announcements to mobile phones and other smart devices whenever motion is detected, and lets you see, hear and speak to people on camera.

  • Ambiance is enhanced by smart color changing LED lighting including 4 pier lights as well as light strips integrated in the deck railings

Club Melmar:  Outdoor Stairways

The Rear Grounds contain nine sets of steps including six sets of vintage solid limestone steps, two sets of custom premium Trex Transcend Composite steps, and one custom semicircular set of bluestone steps with mica shist facing matching the front entry and great room deck steps

Club Melmar:  Bathroom

The South Wing includes a large full bathroom that is accessed from the Great Room through a framed frosted glass door with aged bronze Schlage Accent lever hardware, and features a porcelain tiled zero threshold shower with a 48 in linear drain, built in shelves, and a Delta TempAssure shower system with two shower heads including a 10" rain shower head and a 3-function hand sprayer on a height adjustable slide bar.  Custom ​Medallion tongue and groove solid hardwood cabinets and drawers with soft close hardware are topped with a granite countertop, a Kohler Memoirs undermount sink with a Delta Cassidy faucet, and a large, framed vanity mirror.  A half wall provides added privacy for the Kohler Memoirs toilet.  porcelain tile shower walls match the porcelain tile floors which are heated by a custom in floor hydronic radiant heat system.  A new clear full lite "blinds in glass" exterior door​ with an aged bronze Schlage Camelot "keyless entry" keypad deadbolt opens to a custom premium Trex Transcend Composite​ stairway which lead to the Courtyard and the Rear Grounds.  Security is enhanced with a smart LED exterior light fixture and a smart Ring video doorbell which can be accessed via mobile phone and Alexa.
