Bertone was founded in 1912 and has designed some of the most beautiful and intriguing automobiles ever built, including the Lamborghini Countach, Fiat X1/9, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint, the BMW 3200 CS, Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso, Lamborghini Miura, Lancia Stratos and many more.  The most recent vehicle penned by Bertone is the 2013 Aston Martin Rapide Jet 2+2, which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

With a transverse engine and gearbox in a mid-mounted, rear-wheel drive configuration, the X1/9 was noted for its balanced handling, retractable headlights, lightweight removable hardtop which could be stowed under the bonnet, front and rear storage compartments — and for being the first Fiat to have been designed from its conception to meet US safety regulations.
